The Feather Gatherer

A Dark Fairy Tale

English | 111 pages | ISBN 979-8 282 470 499

In the secluded northern lands, where ancient forests guard their secrets, lies a village renowned throughout the region for its wondrous pillows. These pillows, filled with special feathers, bestow upon people gentle dreams and banish worries. Soren—a young feather gatherer whose skill knows no equal—dwells in harmony with nature, understanding the language of birds and the whispers of the forest.

But when drought threatens his craft and the village’s prosperity, Soren faces a temptation that leads him down a dark path. He begins to violate the ancient laws of nature, and this brings forth irreversible consequences. “The Feather Gatherer” is an immersion into a world where the boundary between human and beast blurs, and folk legends come alive, bringing with them primeval terror.

This dark fairy tale explores themes of choice, guilt, and frightening transformation, showing how good intentions can lead to nightmarish results. Prepare yourself for a story that will make you look anew at the rustle of feathers and shadows in the forest.

Haunting and poetic. This book reads like a half remembered myth told around a fire deep in the woods. Soren’s journey gripped me with equal parts wonder and dread. I’ll never think of birdsong the same way again.

Johnny Clark

The worldbuilding is incredible mossy forests, whispered legends, dream-feathers, it all feels rich and tangible. But the pacing dragged a bit in the middle, and I found Soren hard to connect with at times. Still worth reading if you like dark fairy tales.

Johnson Blake

This was everything I want in a modern fairy tale, lush prose, moral ambiguity, ancient rules broken at a terrible cost. The transformation scenes chilled me to the bone. Think Pan’s Labyrinth meets The Brothers Grimm.

Alger Howell

One of the most original books I’ve read in a while. The idea of magical pillows made from feathers that shape dreams? Genius. And the fall from grace… absolutely heart-wrenching. It reads like a fable you’d find in a forbidden tome.

Akira Jone

This would make an amazing animated film dark, dreamy, and deeply emotional. I especially appreciated the theme of environmental respect and the price of crossing natural boundaries. A bit slow to start but very rewarding by the end.

Angela Tenny

I can see what the author was going for, but I wanted more clarity in some of the magical elements. The rules of the world felt vague, which made Soren’s choices less impactful. That said, the mood is wonderfully eerie.

Angela Tenny

Easily a new favorite. I devoured it in one sitting. Soren’s descent is heartbreaking and believable, and the atmosphere is unmatched. If you love tales where nature is both beautiful and terrifying, don’t miss this.

Phil Long

Reminiscent of classic fairy tales but with a psychological depth that lingers. The feather motif is used so well, both symbolically and literally. The transformation scenes felt mythic and grotesque. I would love to read more stories set in this world.

Thank you so much for your support! Your direct purchase from the author means a lot to me. I’d be grateful for a review on Amazon after reading.
